All Basic schools to re-open on September 19

Accra, Aug. 26, GNA – Ghana Education Service (GES), has postponed the opening date for the 2006/2007 academic year for all basic schools from Tuesday, September 12 to Tuesday, September 19.

A release issued and signed by Ms Lydia Osei, Deputy Director-General of GES on Saturday said the postponement was due to the upcoming District Assembly elections scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2006.

The release urged all stakeholders in education to take note of the change in reopening date.
