Man before tribunal for threatening

Accra, Aug. 26, GNA – Yaw Kemeh, who claimed to be a Jamaican and a Cultural Consultant, who threatened to kill a flight engineer of Ghana Airways, was on Thursday arraigned at a circuit tribunal in Accra.

Kemeh, 35, a native of Anyako, pleaded not guilty to threat of death and was granted 10 million cedis bail with one surety to be justified. He will appear again on October five. Prosecuting, Police Detective Chief Inspector Edward Antwi told the tribunal chaired by Mrs Elizabeth Anderson Yeboah that, the complainant, Mr Augustine Mensah lives in Accra and works with the Ghana Airways.

The prosecutor said Kemeh lives in Mensdah’s boy’s quarters at Kissieman in Accra and that, he claimed to be half Jamaican and half an Ashanti, saying, his father is one Lawyer Kemeh, who lives at Kwadaso in Kumasi, while his mother hails from Bristol in London.

Chief Inspector Antwi said the accused further told the complainant that, he arrived from London, where he completed a course of study and was in Ghana as a representative of the PANAFEST and needed accommodation.

He said Mr Mensah agreed to offer one of his two boy’s quarters to Kemeh on humanitarian grounds, while his driver occupied the other room.

Chief Inspector Antwi said without the knowledge of Mr Mensah, Kemeh went ahead to install a standing shower in the bathroom and water closet in the toilet but prevented the driver from using the facilities.

The prosecutor said this development resulted in a squabble between Mr Mensah and Kemeh. He said at one time when Mr Mensah returned from duty tour, the accused charged on him with a knife, with the threatening words, “I will kill you when I get you.”

Mr Mensah, sensing danger, ran to the Police station to make a report and the Police had to break Kemeh’s door before they could arrest him.
