Four die in boat accident

Nyambong (V/R), Aug 23, GNA – Four people got drowned when a boat on which they were travelling across the River Oti from Nyambong to Kitari near Kpandai hit a stump and capsized.

Seven others on the boat, however survived, among them was Dorcas Okrah, one and half years, whose mother Attiemne Nsiah, 30 were among the dead.

Mr John Badji, assembly member for the Nyambong electoral area speaking to the Ghana News Agency, gave the names of the three others who died as Okplesa Gegbanjo, female aged 60, Vicent Anewiase, male 27 and Bronya Bio, male aged two.

He said the boat probably capsized when frightened passengers rushed to one side after the boat hit the stump and started taking in water.

Mr Badji said all the dead have been buried.
