Bonte Youth Assoc. donates pumping machine to community

Bonte (B/A), Aug. 19, GNA – Italy-based members of Bonte Youth Association in Nkoranza District have donated two water pumping machines worth about 40 million cedis to the town. The machines would be connected to boreholes to supply water to all parts of the community.

The group also provided 12 million cedis towards the execution of the Self Help Electrification Project (SHEP) in the town and 32 million cedis in support of the construction of a six-classroom block of the local primary school.

Messrs Boakye Yiadom, chairman of the association and Gyimah Brempong, who made the donation on behalf of the non-resident citizens said the group would continue to offer the necessary support for the accelerated development of the community.

They called on the youth in the area to be disciplined and to respect authority and to avoid negative partisan politicking, as that could adversely affect the development of the area.

Nana Krobea Asante Sarpong, Chief of Bonte, who received the items on behalf of the community, commended the group for the gesture. The Italy-based citizens also provided three million cedis towards the sinking of a borehole about three years ago. The chief expressed concern about the refusal of some foreign-based citizens to join the association and appealed to them to change this attitude, so they could also contribute to the development of the area. 19 Aug. 06
