NAGRAT urges government to replace GES boss

Tamale, Aug. 18, GNA – The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT)-Ghana, has called on the government to replace the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) by September 1, 2006.

A resolution by the Association at the end of its 6th National Delegates Congress in Tamale contended that the Acting Director-General should have gone on compulsory retirement last year.

The resolution called on the government to offer free education to at least, two children of every teacher to university level, while efforts should be made to address all outstanding grievances contained in the memorandum of understanding signed between NAGRAT and the GES. NAGRAT urged the government to review as a matter of urgency, salaries of workers, especially teachers by September 1, 2006 while a representation should be given to the Association on all committees and panels of the GES, as well as GES Council that deals with matters affecting graduate teachers.
