ActionAid Donates to Tamale Municipal Health Team

Tamale, 14th Aug. 1999 ActionAid Ghana has donated drugs, a computer and accessories worth 12 million cedis to the Tamale Municipal Health Management Team (MHMT) as part of a 10-year collaborative programme to boost health delivery in the municipality. The drugs are meant for the school health programme of the MHMT while the computer is to enable it to strengthen its data collection, collation, analysis and storage. Mr Charles Wontewe, development officer of ActionAid, handed over the items to Dr. Nsiire Agana, Municipal Director of Health, at a ceremony in Tamale on Thursday.

Mr Wontewe said ActionAid would provide additional 14 million cedis to enable the MHNT to undertake the training of traditional birth attendants and a number of health personnel in the management of tuberculosis. Mr Samuel Quarcoopome, Municipal Co-ordinating Director of Administration, said the collaboration between ActionAid and the Ministry of Health enhances the objectives of the Vision 2020 programme. He hoped the computer would offer the MHMT the opportunity to hook up to the Internet. Dr Agana commended ActionAid for its continuous support, especially in the area of capacity building to improve on health delivery.
