Minister donates to three institutions

Accra, Aug. 3, GNA – The Greater Accra Regional Minister Sheikh I. C. Quaye on Thursday donated 775 treated mosquito nets worth about 63 million cedis to three institutions in Accra.

The donation was the second phase of the Ministry’s campaign to fight against mosquitoes and reduce malaria in the area. The beneficiaries were the Osu Children’s Home, which received 150 student- size nets, 25 for the teachers, five bags of rice and two bags of sugar totalling about three million cedis.

The Accra Psychiatric Hospital and Pantang Psychiatric Hospital received 300 nets each.

“Our fight against mosquitoes and malaria is a continuous one and we shall not rest until we have reduced the menace to the barest minimum”, the Minister said.

He said malaria had no respect for any person so the earlier the country was helped the better for everyone.

Sheikh Quaye advised the institutions to periodically undertake spraying of their environs to ensure a healthy environment. He appealed to other donors and corporate bodies to join in the fight against mosquito reduction and malaria.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Minister and promised to take good care of the items.
