Akropong (B/A), Aug. 1, GNA – Mr George Franklin Effah, Assembly Member for Akropong Electoral Area in Nkoranza has commended the government for supporting district assemblies to initiate development programmes.

Mr Effah told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akropong on Tuesday that the Assembly had supported his community in the provision of a block of three classrooms with an office and store. He said the local primary school had been selected to benefit from the national school-feeding programme, whilst under the Nkoranza District Water and Sanitation Programme three boreholes had been constructed in the area.

The community had also been provided with eight street bulbs in support of its power project, the Assembly Member added. Mr Effah commended the government for introducing the capitation grant to schools, saying the policy had enhanced school enrolment. Mr Effah announced that the people of Abuontam in the electoral area cultivated rice throughout the year through the help of an irrigation project under the Village Infrastructure Project.

He appealed to the Assembly to provide the people of Dandwa, also in the electoral area with a block of three classrooms for the local primary school as the pupils in the upper classes studied under trees and urged the Assembly to expedite action on the construction of the school block at Grumakrom, where the people had laid moulded the required number of blocks for the project.

Mr Effah called on the people to vote for him in the elections so he would continue with his good services to accelerate the development of the area.
