Concern about abuse of Health Insurance Scheme

Begoro (E/R), July 31, GNA- Health personnel in the Fanteakwa District have expressed concern about the high rate of abuse of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the district.

They complained that some clients of the NHIS had been visiting the hospital on weekly basis with their relatives even when they are well. “Measures should be put in place to check such developments or else the NHIS could collapse in the district.”

This came to light at the mid-year review meeting of health personnel in the Fanteakwa District at the weekend. They appealed to the public, chiefs and opinion leaders to assist in educating the people on the Health Insurance Scheme to help sustain it.

The Medical Officer at the Begoro District Hospital, Dr Kofi Ablor, said he was not happy at the frequent electricity outages at the hospital and urged the authorities to ensure regular power supply. 31 July 06
