Tension on Togo/Ghana

Ghanaians living along the border with Togo have accused Togolese farmers of crossing onto their farmland.

The complaints were made to a joint border commission.

The Ghanaians also said there’d been incidents of armed Togolese crossing into a nearby forest reserve to hunt game.

There’s been no official statement from the Ghanaian authorities.

But the state-owned Ghana Times said the farmers had been accompanied by Togolese security forces, and had also removed pillars demarcating the border between the two countries. A BBC correspondent in Ghana says the reported incursions follow an improvement in relations between Togo and Ghana over the past year and a half.
