CPP Patriots plunged into deep identity crises

Accra, July 24, GNA 96 The Patriots, a pressure group within the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has been plunged into deep identity crisis that threatens to break its frontline.

The Patriots, since its emergence on the political scene has strategically decided not to introduce its core leadership and real intentions to either the media or the public and this has created agitation among its teaming supporters.

The supporters have, therefore, called on The Patriots Leadership, =93to show their face,=94 as in the absence of that the general public had assumed that the CPP Leadership and its 2004 Presidential Candidate would be the face of the Party in Elections 2008.

=93This prospect is most unattractive and is creating disaffection for the Party, even among die-hard stalwarts and Nkrumaists,=94 a Patriot’s working document made available to the Ghana News Agency on Sunday said.

Dr Foster Sakara, a leading member, who was contributing to discussions, stressed 93the need for the Patriots to identify their leadership, who should be in waiting and available at all its outreach programmes.

=93This would help the electorates to know the new leadership being proposed for the CPP Elections 2008 campaign,=94 Dr Sakara stated. He said 93so far the message that had been put out there was appealing to the electorate but their puzzle was they had no faces to put to the name 96 The Patriots.=94

Dr Sakara insisted; 93the incongruous would have to be dealt with almost immediately and corrected if the Patriots would maintain their credibility and increase its impetus=94.

Ms Grace Appiah, a former CPP Parliamentary candidate for Gomoa East Constituency, called on The Patriots, which pride itself as committed and dedicated to Nkrumaism to put in place executives in all the 230 constituencies.

She said the Executives should be tasked among other responsibilities to organise the polling station assistants for grassroots mobilisation for the Party. Mr Kojo Armah, CPP Member of Parliament for Evalue-Gwira commended the Patriots for documenting Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s speeches into a four-volume book. He tasked them to constantly educate the public on the principles of the CPP.
