Govt committed to enhance efficiency of Police, IGP

Samreboi (W/R), July 16, GNA – Mr Patrick Acheampong, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has said the government and the Police Administration were working to enhance efficiency in the service to ensure protection of property and security for the people. He said efficiency in the service would not only guarantee democracy but would also ensure increased production in all sectors of the economy.

The IGP was addressing personnel of the service at separate durbars at Samreboi and Asankrangwa during a day’s visit to the Wassa Amenfi West District.

He inspected facilities at the various police stations and said teething problems of accommodation and inadequate personnel nationwide were being addressed.

The IGP said policemen who have stayed at a station for more than five years and wish to be transferred should submit their names to the Police Administration.

Mr Alberto Terkyi, the District Chief Executive, appealed to Mr. Acheampong to transfer the Samreboi Police Administration from Enchi to Asankrangwa because politically and traditionally Samreboi is under Asankrangwa.

He said the move would also facilitate easy and efficient police administration in the district.
