Ga District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme Inaugurated

Amasaman (GA), July 6, GNA – The Ga District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme raised an amount of 1.8 billion cedis between November 7 and 28, last year, during a special registration exercise. Sheikh I C Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, announced this during the inauguration of the Ga District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme at Amasaman on Thursday.

He said the Scheme had registered over 50,000 clients and paid over 72 million cedis as medical bills to five health providers in the District for services provided for the month of April and May, this year.

Deputy Minister of Health Mr S Owusu Agyei said currently, 125 District Mutual Health Insurance Schemes had been established in the country and all were managing claims.

He said data available showed that 25 per cent of the population of the country had registered with the Schemes and 10 per cent were card holders.
