Former pupil renovates school

Chiraa (B/A), June 27, GNA – The Reverend Agya Appiah, Minister in-charge of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church at Chiraa has spoken out against people who discourage others willing to offer philanthropic services to the nation, community and the needy.

Rev Appiah was preaching at the church on Sunday during which the church honoured Mr Isaac Asante, a 30- year-old member of the church for his contribution to the renovation of the local Presbyterian Primary and Junior Secondary schools.

The two school blocks were built in 1954 and had never been renovated.

The rehabilitation, which comprised painting and the parchment of the floors and walls, cost 150 million cedis. Rev Appiah, on behalf of the school management committee, Parent/Teacher Association and the church, thanked Mr Asante presented him with a citation.

Mr Asante said he attended the school and completed it in 1993. He said he felt disgusted about the dilapidated condition of the two blocks and “as a former pupil, I thought over the situation and my assistance is a matter of course”.
