Three die in a road accident

Laklevikope(V/R), June 23, GNA – Three persons including two elderly men, died when the taxi cab on which they were travelling crashed in a head-on collision with a cargo truck at Laklevikope near Denu on the Aflao-Accra highway on Thursday. Agbota Amesime 79, and Sowuagbedzi Amesimeku 77, died on the spot while Christopher Bufia 30, died while being rushed to the hospital. Two other persons on board the taxi, the driver Fonyo Lavoeh and Christopher Amesimeku 60, a relative of the deceased are in critical condition at the Ketu district hospital at Aflao.

Police Inspector Abraham Tetteh, in charge of Denu police told GNA at the scene of the accident that the four passengers boarded the taxi with registration number GT7680N at Denu on Thursday morning to their village, Agbevekope near Agbozume. He said on reaching Laklevikope, about 700 meters away, the taxi driver allegedly lost control of his car when he attempted to avoid a pothole and veered into the lane of an oncoming cargo truck with registration number GR1734K travelling from Techiman to Aflao carrying tomatoes leading to the crash. All four occupants on the cargo truck escaped unhurt.
