Unemployed man granted 200 million cedis bail for alleged stealing

Cape Coast, June 23, GNA- Ato Pobee Hayford, a 20 -year unemployed man was on Friday granted 200 million cedis bail with two sureties to be justified by a circuit court at Cape Coast for allegedly stealing 100 assorted mobile phones valued at 150 million cedis and 70 million cedis cash belonging to one Mr. Frank Aidoo. Hayford, who pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage and stealing would reappear on Monday July 10.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court, presided over by Mr Mustapha Ahmed Logoh, that Mr. Aidoo has a mobile phone shop at Abura a suburb of Cape Coast and that on May 10 this year, he withdrew an amount of 70 million cedis from the bank and left it in a drawer in his shop. He said the next day, Mr Aidoo went to the shop around 0700 hours and found the locks to the shop were intact, but on entering, detected that thieves had broken into the shop through the ceiling. He alleged that he found that 100 assorted mobile phones and 70 million cedis cash had been stolen and made a report to the police, who upon a tip-off arrested Hayford.

Chief inspector Amonoo further alleged that when Hayford’s room was searched, 20 mobile phones and an amount of 1,810,000.00 cedis were found and he mentioned one Allotey as his accomplice. He said efforts were being made to arrest Allotey.
