Commonwealth Hall prepares for Golden Jubilee next year

Accra, June 21, GNA – The Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana has set up a 20-member Committee to plan its Golden Jubilee Anniversary, which comes off next year.

A statement issued on Wednesday in Accra named Mr. Justice Anin Yeboah, an Appeal Court Judge as the Chairman of the Committee. Other members of the committee were, Professor Harry Akussah, Master of the Hall and his Deputy, Prof George Armah, Nana Akuoko Sarpong, Omahene of Agogo Traditional Area, Mr Kwame Asante and Mr Kwame Takyi. Mr Joe Osei-Wusu, Mr K Owusu Donkor, Mr Africanus Owusu-Ansah, Mr Stephen Sedofu, Naa Von Salifu, Mr Michael Gyasi, and Mr. Giddy Laryea were also mentioned in the statement.

The rest were, Alhaji Razak El-Alawa, Mr Kofi Agbogah, Mr Tsri Apronti, Dr P. A. Kuranchie, Mr William Gblekor, Mr Atta Amadi Atta and Mr Harry Bannerman.

The programme of activities Nana Akuoku Sarpong would launch the annual Republic Day Jamboree of the Old Vandals at the Commonwealth Hall, Legon on Saturday July 1, 2006. The Hall, formally known as the Third Hall at the University of Ghana was established in 1956 but later renamed as Commonwealth Hall when Ghana was admitted in to the Commonwealth of Nations after Independence on March 6, 1957.
