Kwamikrom (V/R), June 10, GNA – Mr. Moses Davor, Volta Regional Chairman of the Ghana Private Transport Union (GPRTU) has assured market women in the Kwamikrom area that the Union was working out transport fare adjustments that would benefit both passengers and the transport owners in the Region.
He was addressing a delegation of demonstrating market women who had earlier presented a verbal petition to the Union against rising arbitrary transport fares in the Kwamikrom and Jasikan areas. Mr Davor told the women that a similar problem had drawn the attention of the national executives to Jasikan area and that the necessary adjustments would become effective within two weeks that would be acceptable to both the passengers and the transport owners.
Madam Victoria Danso, leader of the delegation has told the executives who were coincidentally holding a meeting with the local executives that transport fare increases were causing financial losses to the market women within Jasikan and Kpando areas. The women suggested favourable fares on placards, which were later, presented to the Regional Executives.
