Dutch Volunteer presents sporting equipment to schools

Wa, June 8, GNA – A Dutch Volunteer at the Dan-Ibu International School at Wa in the Upper West Region, Mr Francis Langenberg on Thursday presented sporting equipment worth 15 million cedis to three Junior Secondary Schools in the Municipality.

The equipment, which included footballs, badminton and rackets, basketballs and sets of table Tennis kits were presented to the Wa Model J.S.S, Dan-Ibu International School and St. Andrews Junior Secondary School.

Mr. Langenberg said the presentation was part of his plan to assist towards the development of sporting activities in schools in the Municipality and called on teachers and parents to cooperate with him to harness the talents of the children.

He said plans were far advanced to construct a basketball court in the Municipality to whip up the enthusiasm of school children in the game.

Mrs. Scholastica Gyiele, Municipal Director of Education who received the items on behalf of the schools thanked him for his contribution towards the development of sports in the area and promised to put the equipment to good use.
