Unemployed youth urged to embrace programme

Kuntanse (Ash), June 6, GNA – Unemployed youth in the country have been cautioned against apathy and the politicisation of the government’s youth employment programme. Mr Daniel Asuo-Afram, Bosomtwe constituency secretary of the NPP, gave the advice, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kuntanse on Monday.

He said the government seeks to use the programme to reduce high unemployment levels and reduce poverty in the country. Mr Asuo-Afram urged the youth to embrace the programme which, he said, aimed at equipping and engaging them in agriculture, teacher training, waste management, health aids, community security and forestation.

He commended the government for the numerous development projects going on in the country, which were gradually improving the living conditions of the people.

Mr Asuo-Afram denied accusations being levelled against the government by some youth in Kumasi that, the government had not done enough to improve infrastructure in the metropolis, and said Kumasi alone was not the Ashanti region.
