Rainstorm destroys houses and school buildings at Nyankpala

Nyankpala (N/R), June 05, GNA – A severe rainstorm on Friday hit Nyankpala and its surrounding communities and ripped off the roofs of 50 houses and some school buildings. The Saint Monica’s School Complex and a newly completed “Green House” for the University for Development Studies (UDS) to undertake research work were not spared as the rainstorm lifted off their roofs also.

Dr Thoma s Bayobo, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture of the UDS, said GES Construction Company, which built the Green House, was still responsible for the building.

Mrs Harriet Nutsugah, Headmistress of the St. Monica’s School Complex, appealed to the Tolon-Kumbungu District Assembly, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and NGOs for assistance to rehabilitate the school.
