House help escapes from maltreatment

Tema, May 31, GNA – Georgina Aku Abah, 14, has been rescued by a Good Samaritan in Tema, when she tried to escape from maltreatment by an auntie she was living with by walking from Awoshie in Accra to her mother at Ho-Anlokodzi in the Volta Region.

She spotted by the Good Samaritan in Tema and handed over to the Tema Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DVVSU). Chief Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yaw, Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer told the GNA on Wednesday that Georgina started her journey on Monday morning due to the excessive maltreatment she was going through for the past four months from her employer, who happened to be her auntie.

He said even though she refused to give the auntie’s name, she indicated that, her auntie is a housewife, residing at Awoshie, while the auntie’s husband is a tailor and hails from Kpedze in the Volta Region.

Goergina said her father Mr Kwaku Abah is deceased but her mother Madam Rose Azameti resides at Ho-Anlokodzi and was therefore walking from Awoshie to Ho-Anlokodzi.

The Tema DVVSU is therefore appealing to her relatives to report at the Tema Regional Police Headquarters for further actions.
