Fire guts three-storey building at Suhum

Suhum, May 25, GNA – A three-storey building at Suhum suffered great damage when it was gutted by fire on Saturday. Property estimated at several millions of cedis and cash 10 million cedis was burnt and it took firemen and volunteers over two hours to bring the fire under control.

According to the local Fire Station Officer, Mr Joseph Dodobi, who led a crew of Fire Service personnel to put off the fire, the outbreak might be attributed to an electrical fault.

He said initial information gathered said one of the female tenants, who normally used water heater to cook food, was using the heater to boil palm nuts but left to the market and that the pan being used to cook got over-heated and started the fire. Mr Dodobi said the affected victims, Miss Comfort Asiedu, a nurse, Miss Florence Mantey, a teacher and Mr Emmanuel Adu, a trader, are helping the police in their investigations.
