Thirteen Communities to build market

Busunya (B/A) May 18, GNA – Thirteen communities in Nkoranza North Constituency have decided to construct a market at Busunya to avoid travelling long distances to sell their farm produce. The communities include Akumdwa Number One and Two, Odumase, Akonkonti, Tumiabu, Boama, Dromankuma, Boabeng, Fiema, Adumasa and Kwaasi.

Nana Yaw Amo, Krontihene of Busunya told the Ghana News Agency that residents of the town have decided to organise a fund-raising harvest to generate funds to start the project.

He said other communities in the area would also mobilize resources to support the project.

Nana Amo said a planning committee, under his chairmanship, had been set up to initiate plans towards the construction of the market, adding that the people had suggested the project be sited along the Nkoranza- Busunya-Dromankese road.

“The chiefs and elders of Busunya have also agreed to release land for the project”, he said. The market centre at Busunya, on completion, would be the fifth in the Nkoranza district, after Nkoranza, Dromankese, Nkwabeng and Donkro- Nkwanta.

Nana Amo said the people of Busunya had started constructing a police station to provide a permanent accommodation for police personnel in the area.

The Krontihene appealed to the Nkoranza District Assembly, to provide them with 100 bags of cement and five bundles of roofing sheets towards the police station project. Mr. Henry Amoako-Asante, chairman of Busunya Area Council, expressed his gratitude to the District Assembly for constructing an office for the Council.
