Farmer fined for failing to produce suspect

Assin Foso (C/R) May 15, GNA- A 35-year-old farmer, Emmanuel Coffie, was on Monday fined one million cedis by the Assin Foso district magistrate court For failing to produce a suspect he stood surety for. Coffie, who pleaded guilty will go to prison for six months in default. The court, presided over by Mr Joseph Blay, had to adjourn the case for three consecutive times to enable Coffie to bring Papa Amuzu, a hunter, who was arrested for allegedly hunting in the Assin Attandanso game reserve.

Prosecuting, ASP Asafo Agyei, told the court that sometime in September last year, Amuzu was arrested while hunting in the Assin Attandanso Forest Reserve and when searched a gun, two cartridges and a catapult were found on him. The court, ordered that the items retrieved should be handed over to the department of Game and Wildlife at Foso.
