Registration Goes Steadily in Bolgatanga.

Bolgatanga, May 13, GNA- The voters registration exercise in the Bolgatanga Munucipality is going on at a slow but steady pace, Mr. Salifu Abdulia, Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, said on Saturday.

After a tour of some of the registration centres in Bolgatanga, Mr. Abdulia observed that the exercise had been peaceful and organised smoothly without problems.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga, he said there were sufficient materials to meet the possible rush tomorrow, Sunday, as it is usually the case with the last days of registration. He explained that people who had lost their registration identity cards had to wait for other arrangements to be made for them, while those above 20 years had to give reasons why they did not register during the last registration exercise before they could register. He urged all to be patient and wait for the right arrangements that would soon be made to enable all to register.

Some of the centres GNA visited showed an average of 15 registered persons a day.

At the Bukere and Kotokoli registration centres, 70 and 100 persons had respectively registered, while Bolga -Soe and Zaare centres had 90 and 95 registered persons. 13 May 06
