VRA to carry out maintenance works

Accra, May 11, GNA – The Volta River Authority (VRA) and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Thursday announced that there would be load shedding in parts of Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Sekondi-Takoradi on May 12 and May 19 for maintenance works on two generators at Akosombo.

A joint statement by the two companies in Accra said the load shedding would be between 0600 and 2200 hours on both days. Ms. Abla Fiadjoe, Acting Director, Corporate Services Department of VRA and Ms Gloria Dua-Sakyi, Public Relations Manager of ECG signed the statement.

The statement said Generator Number Four would be shut down on May 12 followed by Generator Number One on May 19 “for critical inspection”. “We apologise sincerely to all customers for the inconvenience and wish to assure them that we are taking all necessary measures to reduce the outage time,” the statement said.
