Chief of Sikaa dies

Sikaa (B/A), May 9, GNA – The death was reported on Monday at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani of Nana Adjei Worae, chief of Sikaa in the Nkoranza traditional area of Brong-Ahafo. He was 36. Known in private life as Mr Worae Padmore, he had worked as a technician of the Ghana Water Company at Tanoso in Techiman and ruled for seven years.

The body has been kept at the hospital’s mortuary pending burial and final funeral rites between May 26 and 30.

The late chief was educated at the Sunyani Technical Institute (now Sunyani Polytechnic) and Tamale Polytechnic, after which he trained at the Water and Sewerage Corporation Training School at Weija, near Accra. Nana Owusuaa Ayiwa, Queenmother of Sikaa and Nana Kwaku Boahen, head of the royal family told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Sikaa that the family was making preparations towards the burial and final funeral rites of the late chief.

The Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, Okatakyie Agyemang Kudom IV, divisional chiefs and all other sub-chiefs of Nkoranza have been duly informed of the death of Nana Worae. The queenmother and the head of the family said the family was planning to enstool a new chief before the final funeral rites. The late Nana Worae left behind a wife and a six year-old son.
