Swedru circuit court cry for repairs

Agona Swedru, May 8, GNA – Litigants and staff of the Agona Swedru Circuit Court have called for repairs to be carried out on the roof of the court building before the raining season sets in.

Mr Kofi Tawiah, a litigant who spoke to the GNA after downpour called the authorities to renovate the building in reaction to the leaking roof forcing the bench of the Judge to be moved down the elevation it is placed and the wet courtroom.

The typing pool, offices and other rooms old files were kept also leaked and containers had to be placed on the tables to collect rainwater.

Mr Tawiah stated that people had to struggle for places to getting soaked, adding that proceedings had to come to a halt in the building, which also housed the Commission for Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) until after the rain.

He also expressed shock at the old ceiling fans in the courtroom while there was none in the other rooms and called steps to rectify the situation before any accident.

When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) contacted Mr Emmanuel Nadje, Registrar of the Court, he said Estate Officers from Accra assessed the building last year but noting had been heard since then.
