Kpone, May 05, GNA -People in authority were on Thursday urged to appoint qualified people to assume particular positions and eschew favouritism in the running of their administration in order to achieve the desired results.
The Right Reverend Samuel O. Achamfuo-Yeboah, Bishop of Tema Methodist Diocese, who made the call at Kpone said to execute such tasks effectively would require leaders of all categories to be honest in their work no matter how they would be hated.
“Even Jesus Christ was hated while performing a good job to save mankind”.
The Diocesan Bishop was opening the 9th annual Synod of the Tema Diocese at the Mount Sinai Methodist Church at Kpone, which had the theme: “Ambassadors for Christ-the message and the messenger”.
He said effective leadership must start from the homes, the community, the churches, right to the political level to ensure orderliness in the society.
He spoke against challenging authority in the event of transfers to particular areas, saying that as ambassadors of positions of trust they were duty bound to obey.
Turning to leaders in the Tema Methodist Diocese, Rt Rev. Achamfuo-Yeboah stressed on appointing qualified people to prepare their accounts to avoid mistrust.
Mr David Quaye Annang, Tema Municipal Chief Executive noted
that the youth need to be guided to live upright lives and called on
Christians to lead exemplary lives worthy of emulation. Mr Enoch T. Mensah, MP for Prampram/Ningo constituency said evangelisation in the Methodist Church must begin from the homes before extending to the various communities.
Mr Mensah, a staunch Methodist expressed concern about the frequent vacation from the mother Churches to the Charismatic Church by the youth and called for intensification of evangelisation to curb the practice.
“The religious market place is a highly competitive, if we are not able to deal with the elements Church will not grow”.
