Tema, May 3, GNA – Robert Mensah, a 38 year old restaurant keeper was on Wednesday sentenced to seven years imprisonment for defiling the 12 year old daughter of his fianc=E9e.
The Tema Circuit Court ‘A’ presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu convicted Mensah on his own plea.
The accused who lived with the victim and the mother at Ashaiman, invited the victim into their bedroom on April 25, 2006 at about 1800 hours when the mother had gone to town the court was told. District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Duuti Tuaruka told the court that in the bedroom, Mensah watched a pornographic movie with the victim and in the course of viewing it succeeded in having sex with the 12-year-old victim.
DSP Tuaruka said the victim’s mother reported the incident to the Ashaiman police when her daughter narrated her ordeal to her leading to Mensah’s arrest.
He admitted committing the offence in his caution statement. DSP Tuaruka said a medical report received after the victim had attended hospital revealed that she had sustained bruises in her private organ.
