Jacobu (Ash), May 2, GNA – Mr Emmanuel K. Gyamfi, the Member of Parliament for Odotobri, has spent more than 100 million cedis from his share of the GETFund to rehabilitate the Jacobu Secondary/Technical School in the Amansie Central District.
The MP, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Jacobu, said all documents had been completed for another rehabilitation work to start on the Homase-Bodwease Local Authority Junior Secondary School and that would also cost 100 million cedis.
Mr Gyamfi said 16 students were on his scholarship scheme and that so far 18 million cedis had been spent on six students entering tertiary institutions.
He said through the HIPC fund, 40 market stalls estimated at over 95 million cedis would be constructed at Mile Nine. Already, 1,500 blocks had been prepared for the project.
The MP announced that under the government’s Self-Help Electrification Programme (SHEP) Four, Phase Two Programme, 35 communities in the constituency would be considered for electrification. Mr Gyamfi named Fiankoma, Abuntunso, Kobro, Abuakwaa, Kente, Hia, Mile Nine and Mile 14, as the eight communities that had been initially selected for the project.
Mr Gyamfi said efforts were being made to get the Department of Feeder Roads (DFR) to improve the roads in the area. He said as a result of the poor access roads to the capital of the new district, about 60 per cent of the population transacted business at Obuasi and that was not the best if they wanted the district to develop.
