Paramedical staff of Oda Hospital lays down tools

Akyem Oda (E/R), April 26, GNA – Paramedical staff of the Akyem Oda Government Hospital on Tuesday joined the nation-wide strike action by their colleagues to back their demand for increases in their new pay structure.

When Ghana News Agency visited, the Out Patient Department (OPD) at 1400 hours, the place was opened but the staff was absent. A visit to other departments such as the eye clinic and the blood bank showed no traces of staff.

At the pharmacy department, a few skeleton staff on duty said they only attended to patients on admission in the various wards Mr Gyamfi Boaten, the Hospital Administrator told the GNA that even though all the nine medical officers were at post, they could not do much due to the strike action by the paramedical staff. He said, however that, patients on admission were being taken care of, adding that, the administration was carefully monitoring the situation.
