Upper East Police Administration takes delivery of motorbikes

Bolgatanga, April 24, GNA – The Police Administration in Upper East Region on Monday took delivery of five Honda motorbikes and five bicycles all worth about 28.5 million cedis and distributed them to five deprived police stations in the Upper East Region. The beneficiaries were Pusiga, Tongo, Bongo, Chuchuliga and Zuarungu Police stations with each receiving one motorbike and one bicycle.

Presenting the items the Upper East Regional Commander of Police, Mr Ofosu-Mensah Gyeabour, said the donation was in fulfilment of the Inspector-General of Police’s promise when he paid a working visit to the region last year.

Mr Gyeabour said the Police Service had expanded infrastructure of the Pwalugu Police Training School in the Upper East Region that included a clinic, classrooms and accommodation for both staff and students.

Money has also been voted for the construction of accommodation for police officers at Pusiga, near Bawku.

Mr Gyeabour held a meeting with the heads of police stations to review crime wave in the region.

The Upper East Regional Police Crime Officer, Mr Victor Seth Agbetorney, said crime wave in the region had been reduced as compared to the previous years.

He said there had been few cases of land litigation and chieftaincy issues in the region and the police administration had used traditional and opinion leaders to solve them. 24 April 06
