BECE Examination begins Monday

Accra, April 21, GNA – A total of 308,325 candidates from 8,079 schools would take part in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) scheduled for April 24 to April 28 2006.

A statement from the West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Friday signed by the Public Affairs Officer, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe said the candidates, made up of 168,945 males and 139,380 females would take part in the examination at 1,121 centres throughout the country. The Council appealed to candidates, supervisors or invigilators, parents and guardians, the media and the general public to co-operate with WAEC during the period to ensure that the examination was conducted successfully.

Candidates have also been advised to desist from engaging in malpractices during the examination since it could lead to the cancellation of their results, the statement said.
