Awutu-Effutu-Senya Births and Deaths Registry bags 23 million cedis

Winneba, April 18, GNA-The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Office of the Births and Deaths Registry of the Ministry of Health, bagged over 22,900,000 cedis for the state last year through the registration of births and deaths.

Miss Hanna Eshun, District Births and Deaths Officer, told the Ghana News Agency at Winneba that her outfit registered a total of 5,496 births and 612 deaths during the period.

She said there were five registration centers in the District at Winneba, Awutu-Beraku, Awutu-Bawjiase, Kasoa and Senya-Beraku. Miss. Eshun said her outfit would soon launch an intensive outreach programme to cover remote communities to assist the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly in its data collection exercise. She praised Plan Ghana; a Non-Governmental Organization working in the area for the support it had over the years extended to her outfit, as well as the collaborative efforts it had made to help the Registry to attain its goals.

Miss Eshun appealed to assembly members to help educate the people on the importance of the work of the Registry and encourage them to cultivate the habit of registering their new born babies and dead relatives to enable the Assembly to keep proper and accurate records of the population to back the planning and implementation of development projects.
