Assembly members call for peace and development in Kwabre West

Kumasi, April 12, GNA – Assembly members in the Kwabre West constituency have expressed concern about a misunderstanding between Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and some newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency leaders headed by Odeneho Kwaku Appiah.

They pointed out that the problem might not only create confusion within the Party in the constituency but might also hamper socio-economic and political development of the newly created constituency.

This was contained in a statement issued in Kumasi after a meeting on how to facilitate the systematic development of the constituency on Saturday.

The assembly members called for peace and unity of purpose in the constituency to bring meaningful development to that part of the Kwabre district popularly called Kwabre Number Two.

They noted that the area had no paramount chief and as such it is through mutual understanding, co-operation and love that the constituency could be developed and not through the “pull him down attitude” being shown by certain people in the constituency. The assembly members urged the constituency leaders to seek clarification to issues they do not understand either from the district assembly or the Party hierarchy, and refrain from routing their grievances through the media.

They also asked the people to know that the constituency was not created for a particular party or a group of people or individuals but for the general welfare and development of the entire people in the constituency.

“What people should know is that after the election of a leader from a group or a party, that person becomes a public figure whose activities and movement cannot be controlled by the party alone”. They appealed to members of the NPP and other party members in the constituency to give the MP the needed support and co-operation to move the area forward so that the creation of the constituency would be beneficial not only to the people but the whole district. 12 April 06
