Prempeh Headmaster Defends Students

JOY ONLINE — The Headmaster of Prempeh College in Kumasi, Owusu Akyiaw, is contesting reports that students from the school patronize the services of prostitutes at Adum in Kumasi.

A report carried by the Tuesday April 11, 2006 edition of the Chronicle (READ) says students of the college rank first among those from eleven institutions who patronize the services of prostitutes in the Ashanti regional capital.

The paper says its report was based on a survey conducted over a period of three months from January to March this year.

The Chronicle says its survey identified 20 students from Prempeh College as active patrons.

But the Headmaster of the school has defended his students, saying they are generally good boys who would not engage in such nefarious activities.

He attacked the credibility and scientific basis of the survey, but said the school will conduct an investigation into the matter.
