Tamale Youth pledge peace during and after burial of Ya-Na

Tamale, April 9, GNA – The Tamale Youth Association (TYA), have pledged to maintain peace before, during and after the burial of the late Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II, including all activities relating to the Dagbon chieftaincy problem.

Mr. Albert Atutiga, vice President of TYA told the GNA in an interview in Tamale that the youth of Dagbon have realised the importance of peace and unity, and would not do anything to derail the peace process in the area.

He said the youth as well as the entire people in Dagbon particularly those in the Tamale Metropolis would behave maturely and orderly just as they behaved during the just ended by-elections in Tamale Central, which ended peaceful.

He said the absence of peace in the area have denied the Metropolis of some development projects and the youth are very much aware of this and would not act irresponsibly to aggravate the situation. Mr. Atutiga, who is also the Northern Regional chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), appealed to the government to commit itself to solving youth unemployment in the area after the Dagbon problem was fully solved, which would control the youth from engaging in negative acts.

He therefore, appealed to leaders of political parties to caution their members to fully embrace peace to ensure that Dagbon benefited from the national cake and also cautioned the media to behave professionally on the burial of the late King.
