Upper East Gets New GJA Executive

Bolgatanga, April 4, GNA – The Upper East Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) now has a reconstituted Executive body, with Mr. Mohammed Nurudeen Issahaq of the Ghana News Agency and Mr. Abraham Dimbie of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation retaining their positions as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.

Mr. Benjamin Glover of the Graphic Communications Group now occupies the position of Secretary, while Mr. John Arsene of the New Times Corporation takes up the post of Treasurer.

A letter dated March 30, 2005 and signed by Alhaji Salifu Abdulai, Deputy Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, indicated that as at the close of nominations on March 28 in readiness for the Regional elections scheduled for last Thursday March 30, 2006 only those four candidates stood duly nominated.

“By the operating election rules, therefore, the above candidates have been elected unopposed as the Upper East Regional Executive of the GJA,” the letter stated.

In a message, the Chairman-elect thanked members of the Association in the Region for the confidence reposed in the in-coming Executive, and called for the cooperation of all in the effort to re-energise the GJA. On behalf of the entire membership of the Regional Branch, Mr Issahaq also congratulated Mr. Ransford Tetteh on his recent election as President of the GJA.
