Ashanti NPP suspends two leading members

Two executives of the Kwabre West Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been suspended for leading the passage of a no-confidence vote in the MP for the area.

The vote followed allegations that the MP, Emmanuel Owusu had failed to fulfill his campaign promises and had been very secretive with the disbursement of his share of the common fund.

The decision to suspend the two – the women and youth organizers – was taken at a meeting of the Ashanti regional executive of the party.

The Ashanti regional Secretary of the NPP, Sam Cudjoe told JoyFM the vote of no confidence was illegal.

He said the allegations against the MP would be investigated in due course.

Meanwhile, the MP Emmanuel Owusu Ansah has dismissed the allegations against him as frivolous.
