Businessman arrested for forgery

Accra, April 4, GNA – Nii Okpelor Jacob Ablorh Mensah, a businessman, on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly forging land documents and selling plots of land belonging to his family.

Mensah, who pleaded not guilty, was remanded in Police custody to reappear on April 11.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr George Abavelim told the court that Mensah forged the signatures of the two complainants – Abraham Adjei Djomah and Eugene Odametey Sowah and managed to sell plots of land belonging to Okpelor Sowah Din family at Nmai Dzorn, near Ashale Botwe in Accra.

He said the documents could not be registered at the Lands Commission because the officials detected the crime. ASP Abavelim said when the complainants were informed of what Mensah had done, they directed that indentures should be examined at the Police forensic laboratory. The accused person was arrested when the laboratory results confirmed the offence of forgery.
