Koforidua, Mar.30,GNA- The Fairline Imex Limited, a company which imports and distributes medical diagnostic regents and equipments, on Wednesday, donated urine chemistry analyser and ten packets of urine test strips valued at 1.2 million cedis to the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
The equipment takes one minute to analyse each urine sample and print out the results.
Presenting the equipment, the Marketing Manager of company, Mr Thomas Kojo Buabeng, said last year, the company celebrated its ten year anniversary and as part of the celebration, the company distributed a lot of equipments to some hospitals.
He said some hospitals, which did not benefit from the anniversary package applied to his company for support and realizing that most hospitals in the country needed support, the company decided to donate an equipment to a hospital every other month.
Mr Buabeng explained that his company decided to embark on such exercise, hoping that other companies would emulate and also help in equipping hospitals in the country.
He said in February, his company made a donation of a urine chemistry analyser to the European Hospital at Takoradi and would be making a similar donation to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, Akuapem-Mampong.
According to Mr Buabeng, the urine chemistry analyser being donated by his company could store up to 300 urine test results and could be connected to a computer to store more results. Receiving the machine on behalf of the hospital, the Acting Head of the Laboratory Department, Mr George Danquah-Damptey, said the equipment had come at the right time.
He said the hospital had started implementing the Anti-Retroviral Therapyc (ART) for HIV/AIDS patients and that had increased the work load on the laboratory and therefore expressed the hope that the equipment would enhance the work of the Department.
