Three persons die in a motor accident

Kona (Ash), March 30, GNA – Three persons, all women, died on the spot in a motor accident at Kona in the Afigya-Sekyere district on the Kumasi-Mampong road on Thursday morning.

Several others who had various degrees of injuries were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) P.S.K. Osae, the District Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that the vehicle was travelling from Wiamoase towards Kumasi when, on reaching Kona, a woman in her 50s crossed the vehicle and in an attempt to save her rather knocked and killed her instantly.

The driver then lost control of the steering wheel and hit another vehicle before crashing into a building and somersaulted, resulting in the death of the other women on board, DSP Osae added. He said the deceased have been deposited at KATH for autopsy.
