Dormaa Assembly launches book

Dormaa Ahenkro (B/A), March 29, GNA – Dormaa District Assembly and the District Education Office, have jointly launched a book on girl-child education at Dormaa Ahenkro. The book, launched under the auspices of the traditional authorities, deals with problems inhibiting female education in the district.

In a welcoming address, Nana Akosua Fema Dwarbeng, Queen mother of Dormaa, noted that it was high time stakeholders collaborated in the crusade to uplift female child education. The Queen mother called for a united front to ensure that female children grew up with sound moral values and attained a higher standard in education.

Squadron Leader Benjamin Anane Asamoah (rtd), District Chief Executive, urged heads of schools in the area to encourage the enrolment of girls in their institutions. He said the Assembly would give incentive packages to schools whose enrolment of girls would increase appreciably, in addition to special awards to the girls themselves and the teachers. 29 March 06
