Government workers use generators to watch eclipse

Wa, March 29, GNA – Many government workers at the Ministries at Wa who did not have specially designed shades on Wednesday defied a power outage in the area and put on their generators to watch eclipse of the sun experienced in the southern parts of the country on television. The Wa area itself experienced partial eclipse, which was viewed by many people with specially designed shades.

Mr. Paul Nwin, head of the technical division of the Information Services Department where the workers thronged to watch the event on television, his office put on the generators to satisfy the anxiety of public servants in the area, following the power outage. Meanwhile some people in Wa gave superstitious interpretation to the partial solar eclipse.

In their reaction to the celestial phenomenon, some of them held that the event was a bad omen while others also believed that it was purely a scientific occurrence. 29 March 06
