Kumasi, March 29, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court has sentenced a 35-year-old driver to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for having sex with a female idiot.
Issifu Harruna pleaded guilty to the charge. Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP) William Awuvey told the court that the victim lived in the same area with Harruna at Atasomanso, a suburb of Kumasi.
He said the convict’s constant assault on the victim did not come to light until she became pregnant.
DSP Awuvey said even though Harruna did not accept the pregnancy but he admitted having sex with the idiot. The prosecution said the accused based his refusal to accept the pregnancy on the fact that the family of the idiot had earlier confronted another man on the same issue.
