Liberian President makes a stopover in Accra

Accra, March 25, GNA – Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on Friday made a stopover in Accra on her way home after a three-day official visit to the United States of America.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Liberian Ambassador in Ghana, Mr Rudolf Van Balmoos met her on arrival. Briefing newsmen at the airport, President Sirleaf described her visit to the US as very successful and the response for donor support to re-build Liberia was positive.

She said, she had a meeting with US President George W. Bush and addressed the US Congress.

On the issue of Mr Charles Taylor’s extradition from Nigeria to face war crime charges in Freetown, President Sirleaf said the matter was now in the hands of the African Union (AU). She is expected to leave Accra on Saturday morning for Monrovia, Liberia.
