JSS 1 pupil punches classmate to death

Bawku (UE), March 22, GNA – A misunderstanding that ensued between two Form One classmates of Daduri Junior Secondary School at Bawku on Tuesday resulted in the death of one.

Razak Akurugu, 17, was alleged to have punched Samsudeen Aminu, 15, in the abdomen for telling their class teacher that he (Razak) was disturbing the class.

Master Seth Ababio Addae, the Class Prefect, said after the Pre-Technical skills lesson, the teacher informed the class that he would let a Form Two student to do the drawings and left the class. He said some of the pupils began to make noise which prompted the teacher to come back to inquire the reason for the noise making. Aminu mentioned Razak as one of those who were disturbing and the teacher warned them to keep quite.

After the teacher’s departure, Razak confronted Aminu for mentioning his name and slapped him and a struggle ensued between the two. Razak punched Aminu in the abdomen and he (Aminu) fell on the floor and died instantly.

The Bawku Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel K. Bledjumah, confirmed the story and said the suspect has been placed in police custody for his own safety.
