Health Ministry urged to educate public on CSM

Tamale, March 21, GNA – An appeal has been made to the Northern Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service to educate the public on the causes and symptoms of cerebro-spinal meningitis (CSM) to stem a possible outbreak of the disease in the Region.

The appeal in a statement issued by the Centre for Human Rights Education and Advocacy, an NGO in Tamale on Tuesday and signed by its Executive Director Mr Issah Mahmudu said the education should serve as a preventive measure in view of the excessive heat and high temperatures being experienced in the Region.

The statement appealed to the Ministry to put in place measures to help members of the public to prevent themselves from contracting the CSM.

The Ministry should also institute the necessary curative mechanisms to contain any outbreak of the disease. The NGO urged all stakeholders to support the Ministry in educating the public about the dangers of CSM.
